I sketched the placement of the components onto the palette. It was my first time using the laser cutter in the shop. Someone explained to me that I just need to create a photoshop file that the laser cutter follows. However, after making the file and getting ready to use the laser cutter, I asked a shop staff member to help me. They told me that I needed an illustrator file with the paths vectorized. So, with their assistance, I was able to cut the component shopes out of the board.
Since I suddenly had a plan for an additional feature, I added extra slots for buttons and LEDs. The palette was finalized, so I secured everything with tape for now.
Since I just put it together, there were some orientation issues.
The NeoPixel Ring started at 9 o’clock instead of 12 o’clock. The rotary encoder turns left for positive values. The toggle switch and NeoPixel stick were inverted.
